02/15/25
Cloudy.
Snow moves in
during the morning
hours. Some guidance
leans toward western
areas seeing snow
as early as daybreak.
Others lean towards
mid to late morning
for snow to start spreading
into the area. Keep in
mind, the latest models
still have the (Wed-Thurs)
event on them. By
evening today (Thurs),
any past precip will
be off guidance.
I always say to
take one storm at
a time for this reason.
Like I said yesterday,
there's a lot of precip
coming this weekend.
Temperatures at
all layers of the atmosphere
will be a huge factor.
It can be the difference
in getting a 6" thump
of snow vs minimal
snow to a sleet fest.
If there's one layer
above our heads
that is too warm for
a snowflake to pass
through, it will melt.
Then refreezes before
hitting the surface.
Thus, sleet is born.
If all layers above our
heads stay cold,
we'd be looking
at a nice thump of snow
before we eventually
change to sleet/freezing rain.
It's inevitable that we
will change to a mix
and eventually plain rain.
But those layers above
us will determine whether
it's a very snowy Saturday
or a little bit of snow
changing to a sleet fest.
Elevations: 29-32
Valleys: 29-32
Cloudy.
Sleet/freezing rain
to plain rain.
By daybreak,
temps 31-34 degrees.
If that's the case,
the colder spots
will still hang on
to some freezing rain.
Watching the temp
is going to be very
important over the
next couple of days.
