SUNDAY AFTERNOON FORECAST UPDATE

12/15/24

CLOUDY.

12:50PM: VIRGA is occurring

as we speak. Which means

there's snow on radar that's

not quite reaching the ground.

Air needs to moisten up

for snowflakes to reach

the surface level.

1:40PM - There's reports

of sleet/snow

showers starting.

If you start as sleet, it will go

over to snow.

There's a warmer pocket

of air above the surface

that will cool down.

Main Event Start Time: 3:30PM to 7:30PM

WEST TO EAST

It should start as snow

for the majority of you.

Extreme southern areas

will end up mixing fairly

quickly and transition to rain.

Sleet is also possible later as we transition from

snow to rain.

By 11PM: Rain/Snow line

will be near I-78.

By 2AM: Rain/Snow line

will be near I-80.

Highest elevations

will hold on to snow

the longest. So even if

warm air is moving North,

the highest terrain will

still hang on to snow.

Any precip left by daybreak

will be in the form of RAIN SHOWERS.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE BLUE:

YOUR SNOW WILL MOST

LIKELY MELT BEFORE YOU

WAKE UP MONDAY MORNING.

As the event progresses,

temps will rise starting in

southern areas first.

Eventually by daybreak Monday,

everyone will be in the mid

to upper 30's.

Also, any ice accretions would be

limited to the highest elevations.

Light glaze? Of course, this

would be before temps rise

above freezing in the normally

colder spots.

Nuisance event! However, if you're traveling

during the evening (Sunday) into

the early morning hours (Monday),

be careful. Especially in the

highest elevations.

Travel during the Monday morning

commute should be fine for

most of the area. The exception

would be the highest terrain.

Like I said above, any lingering precip

will be in the form of plain rain showers.

There will be

some dense fog

out there. Make

sure you turn on

your headlights.

Increasing WIND

during the evening.

Temps will be

rising through

the 30's and into

the 40's. Highs

will not be achieved

until we approach

midnight.

Rising temps.

By daybreak,

temps will range

from 48-53 degrees.

Mid-day temps

will range from 44-49

in elevations to

47-52 in the valleys.

Winds will gradually

decrease in the evening.

Clear.

Low: 32-37

Sunshine through

early afternoon.

Increasing clouds.

Becoming mostly cloudy.

Elevations: 45-50

Valleys: 48-53

Cloudy.

Rain showers

moving in

during the evening.

Temps max out

just after midnight

around 50-55

degrees. They

will gradually fall

throughout the night.

Along with the falling

temps, rain showers

will start transitioning

to snow showers.

Highest elevations

would see the

changeover first.

WINDY.

Temps by daybreak

will range from 32-38.

Snow showers

ending early.

Temps falling

throughout the day.

By sunset, temps

range from the upper

20's to lower 30's.
