Next Two Weeks: Arctic air & train of storms coming

Over the next few days, it will be quiet. But this is just the "calm" before the train of storms. Our first storm will be tiny; if it even happens. A little burst of snow that could drop an inch or two Thursday Night into Friday.

Second storm on the table could be a big one. As of today, the very latest models are saying a few different things. The Canadian says it will be warm enough for a rain event. This would go from Saturday the 19th to Monday the 21st. The GFS (American) also says rain at this very moment. The European, however, drops about 2 to 3 feet of snow. I know, what do you believe? Right now, it's just a time for people, like me, to check the models daily. That's all that can be done. It's not a time to worry, stock up on bread/milk or hunker down in your basement. Keep in mind, 2 out of 3 models say RAIN as of today (SUNDAY 1/13).

Third storm could be plowable (as of now). This would occur Wed the 23rd into Thurs 24th and is an all snow event (for now). Could be anywhere from 4-8" if the models were to verify correctly today.

It's going to get cold....
That's pretty much a guarantee....

If you follow the GFS, it shows a warm up near 50 next weekend (with rain), then it drops down below zero the following Monday the 21st. As we head into the end of the month, lows may very well drop below zero several times. Models are showing lows in the negative teens. We haven't had lows like that in a very long time. Yes, we drop below zero into the single digits. But negative 10, 11, 12, 13, 14?? That's pretty rare around here. On top of that, wind chills could hit 30 to 40 below zero. What the hell?! That's one outcome from the models that I want to be COMPLETELY WRONG
